My Silent Chorus

Describe the inside of your mind. Can you?
I can't.

there needs to be a cooking show in which tv chefs go into student flats or houses and have to cook a full 3 course meal only using ingredients and equipment they can find in the kitchen

#HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO COOK ANYTHING WITH DORITOS AND INSTANT NOODLES#THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE A SAUCEPAN.

They do have a saucepan, but someone’s eating cereal out of it.

IF YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I’M GONNA LISTEN TO YOU EXPLAINING TO ME ALL THE DIFFERENT REGIONAL ACCENTS/DIALECTS OF YOUR NATIVE LANGUAGE AND SHOWING ME THE EXACT LINGUISTIC DIFFERENCES TO RELATED LANGUAGES then you are absolutely right make yourself comfortable i’ll just bring the popcorn and then we can proceed

Top Schools for Linguistics

justlingthings:

Here’s a really lazy post about the top (mostly US and UK) schools for linguistics (not in order):

-UCLA

-Berkeley (does a lot of descriptive work, especially with American Indigenous languages)

-Oregon (also descriptive)

-Hawaii (also descriptive, you can tell what I plan to study)

-MIT (I’m vaguely considering applying here)

-Harvard

-Stanford

UK/Ireland:

-Cambridge

-Edinburgh (lots of socioling and neuroling, but also! an “evolution of language” program!)

-Oxford (obviously)

-Trinity College Dublin

-Lancaster

-York

some other names I’ve seen mentioned:

-Amsterdam

-Tokyo

-Melbourne

This is a really lazy list, so if you’re thinking of majoring in/getting a postgrad degree in linguistics, I’d go on the linguist list website first.

I said I was going to do so much this summer and it’s now nearly September and I’ve done approximately 2 I think.

Spending my birthday money on Japanese textbooks. *nods*

I asked,
“how much of us, is about you?”
And you didn’t answer

Truth is,
there was never an us,
it was always just you
